In Memory of Bruce Rollick
Bruce Rollick, FSA, passed away suddenly on March 23, 2008. Born in Vancouver, Rollick attended the University of British Columbia on a Cominco Scholarship. After graduation, he moved to Toronto and began his professional career in the insurance industry before returning to Vancouver in 1966 to join Farrant and Company. He spent most of his 40–plus–year career specializing in trusteed, negotiated pension and health & welfare plans.
In 1975, Farrant and Company was acquired by The Wyatt Company (later Watson Wyatt) and in 1977, Rollick became managing consultant of the Vancouver office. Under his leadership, the office grew from a few associates to a staff of over 100 with a large and varied client base. He also served for many years on the Board of Directors of The Wyatt Company.
Following his retirement from Watson Wyatt in 1996, Rollick formed Strategic Income Security Services (SISS). He continued to provide strategic consulting advice to many of his former trusteed pension and health and welfare clients, and provided advice to individuals as well.
Rollick was a gifted athlete and won numerous Canadian badminton championships, both in men's singles and mixed doubles. He served as a Board member of Badminton Canada and was a pioneer in the establishment of the Perpetual Excellence Foundation, which was created so that gifted Canadian athletes in the sport had the support to become champions.
A devoted family man, Rollick is survived and deeply missed by his wife Judy, his two daughters and their families, and his mother, sister and brother.
Rollick was an exceptional advisor, mentor and friend who helped improve the lives of many individuals. He will be missed by all of his colleagues and clients in the pension and benefits field.
