In Memory of Catherine Prime
Catherine Prime, ASA, FIA, FIAA, passed away on November 2, 2004. Prime had a distinguished career at PTOW, an Australian consulting firm subsequently acquired by the Towers Perrin group. In 1987, she left Towers Perrin to start a consulting practice, Catherine Prime and Associates. Much of her consulting involved advising foreign governments on insurance and pension policy.
On completion of her actuarial studies in 1971, Prime became the first female actuary in Australia. In 1988, she received the Institute of Actuaries of Australia's Actuary of the Year Award; and in 1991, became president of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, the first female to achieve either accolade.
