In Memory of Joshua Eugene "Gene" Taylor

Joshua Eugene "Gene" Taylor, 96, died Tuesday January 3, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia.

A native of Marion County, Missouri, he was the son of Joshua Booten and Grace McLeod Taylor. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1931 with a B.A. degree in mathematical science and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and worked for Metropolitan Life in New York. In 1938, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee to work for National Life and Accident Insurance Co. until retirement in 1970 as underwriting vice president.

Taylor is preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine in 1972 and his second wife Margaret in 1988. He is survived by his son, Josh; stepson Ben; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
