Are the transcript and gradeslip copies I print out from My Profile on the SOA Web site considered official by my employer?

Most employers will accept the transcript and gradeslip copies printed from the SOA Web site. However, if you need an official SOA transcript with a watermark please make this request through our Customer Service Center at 888.697.3900 or CustomerService@soa.org.

Why do some of my exams have a grade of "11?"

A grade of "11" indicates that credit for the exam was achieved through conversion credit (i.e., passing equivalent exam(s) under a previous education system).

What does the grading scale of 0–10 mean? How are the 0–10 grades calculated?

Grades are reported on a 0 to 10 scale. Passing grades range from 6 to 10; failing grades range from 0 to 5. On this scale, the interval is 10 percent of the score required to pass; for example, a grade of 5 means failing with a score of at least 90 percent but less than 100 percent of the score required to pass. A grade of 0 does not mean that the candidate received no points, but that the candidate's score was less than 50 percent of the score required to pass.

I have passed some of my exams through the SOA's year 2000 education system and also have exams passed under the 2005 education system. Why does my online transcript not show all of exams under the SOA's 2005 education system regardless of when they were passed?

The SOA's database is configured to show exam titles on all transcripts from both the year 2000 education system and the current education system. Therefore any exam for which candidates had credit from January 1, 2000 through December 31, 2004 will display on the transcript with its original year 2000 system title. Likewise, any exam for which candidates had credit from January 1, 2005 to the present will display on the transcript with its current title. For example, if one has passed Courses 1 and 2, and Exams M and C, the transcript will display as:

I tried to access my transcript online and received the message "No transcript records available." What does this mean?

There are different reasons for why you might have received this message. For example, a common reason is that members and candidates who passed exams from approximately 1979 and earlier do not have electronic exam records in the SOA's main database. The SOA has examination records from 1979 and earlier in the office on file cards. If you received the message "No transcript records available," please contact our Customer Service Center at 888.697.3900 or CustomerService@soa.org to request a hard copy of your exam transcript.

Fellows from prior to the year 2000 never had their exam credits converted to the year 2000 system of education in the SOA's database, and the database is configured for the year 2000 exam credits blended with the 2005–present system. Fellows from prior to the year 2000 should contact our Customer Service Center at 888.697.3900 or CustomerService@soa.org to request a hard copy of their exam transcript.

What if I want to access the grades for all of my SOA exam attempts?

The online transcript service allows each candidate to print gradeslip copies for each exam attempt from the year 2000 to the present. Just click on "Gradeslip" next to the exam attempt you want and then click the "printer friendly" button.

I received notification of my having passed the FAP Final Assessment and acquiring the VEE for Applied Statistics, why aren't these immediately appearing on my online transcript?

Even though you received your results, we only update credits to the main database once a month which is the reason for the delay.

I should have VEE credit from exams taken prior to 2005, why aren't these appearing on my online transcript?

Candidates with credit for Course 2 earned prior to 2005 have conversion credit for VEE–Economics and VEE–Corporate Finance topics. I know with the conversion rules if I have either Course 8 or PD, but not both, I will get credit for Exam DP. Will it ever show up on my transcript?

I have logged in several times today to access my transcript and gradeslip information but now I cannot view my transcripts. Why?

In order to provide better service to members and candidates worldwide, you may access My Transcripts Online up to 20 times during one day. If you exceed this limit, you may either wait until the following morning or contact Customer Service Center for immediate assistance.
