Ask the Exams Department
By Leslie Fausher
What is the Final Assessment grading process?
Final Assessments are randomly assigned to graders, and graders are expected to grade them in order of submission date. However, graders work at different paces on different schedules. The SOA monitors the grading process and "reassigns" submissions from one grader to another as appropriate. In addition, some submissions are graded by more than one grader, and this will naturally extend the process.
As previously indicated, all candidates should allow seven weeks for their Final Assessments to be graded before contacting the SOA about their results.
Will I receive a gradeslip reflecting my Final Assessment results?
The SOA does not send out Final Assessment gradeslips due to the ongoing nature of the course. The email confirmation and/or grading result displayed on the Final Assessment page serves as official notification. Gradeslip requests will not be honored.
The Final Assessment was my last requirement for Associateship. What is my next step?
The SOA will identify all new ASAs. The listing of new ASAs posted on the SOA Web site is the official confirmation that candidates have succeeded in meeting all of the ASA requirements.
The listing is updated on a monthly basis.
Candidates may begin to use the ASA designation after their name appears on the new ASA list. Diploma information will follow several weeks later.
