- Health care reform provides an excellent platform for actuaries to demonstrate the contributions they can bring to the discussion table. The SOA is pleased to share this collection of essays as the debate over key health care issues continues.

- Employee Benefits Group
- In order to better meet the needs of the Society of Actuary members, a new special interest group is being formed that will deal with employee benefits. In preparation of forming this group, feedback was solicited through a survey as well as a brainstorming session (open to all meeting participants) during the June 2009 Health Spring Meeting. After reviewing close to 500 survey responses, the structure and purpose of the employee benefits special interest group is just being defined.

 Summaries of the survey responses and  the brainstorming session are available for review. -
- The Health Section Council will be reviewing a recommendation in the next few months at which point more details will be provided. At a high level, the group is expected to assist with both medical and non–medical products, providing support on: coordination with other organizations and meetings, content at Society of Actuary events and Professional Development opportunities.
