The Society of Actuaries (SOA) Middle East, Africa, & Pakistan (MAP) Committee is pleased to announce the 2025 SOA Regional Symposium, which will take place from September 28 to 29 in Cairo, Egypt.
Networking Reception: Evening of September 27.
2025 Symposium Sessions: September 28–29.
2025 Actuaries Connect Day: September 30, 2025 (By SOA Invitation Only).
The theme of this year’s symposium is: The Modern-Day Actuary: Pushing the Boundaries of the Actuarial Profession.
Across the globe and in our region, uncertainty has become the new normal. We are facing a wide range of challenges, including economic crises, hyperinflation, currency devaluation, climate change, cybersecurity, and the risks of ongoing conflicts. This makes the role of the modern-day actuary more important than ever. Actuaries today must be ready to navigate shifting markets, respond to emerging challenges, and rethink how we approach risk.
In times like these, it is essential for our profession to move beyond traditional models. We must be able to pivot, adapt, and innovate. This symposium focuses on the modern-day actuary and how we are pushing boundaries, developing new tools, and finding ways to support stability and build resilience in a rapidly changing world. The symposium will serve as a space for connection, collaboration, and shared learning for both members and non-members across the MAP region.
Join us as we look ahead to the future of the profession where expertise, adaptability, and vision come together to meet the demands of our rapidly changing world.

U.S. Qualification Standards
The Qualification Standards for Actuaries Issuing Statements of Actuarial Opinion in the United States took effect Jan. 1, 2008, and were developed by the American Academy of Actuaries’ Committee on Qualifications on behalf of the five U.S. actuarial organizations.
The SOA believes that sessions at this meeting may be suitable for filling this requirement as continuing education under the U.S. Qualification Standards. Ultimately, it is an actuary’s responsibility to make a reasonable, good-faith determination of what continuing education opportunities will enhance his or her ability to practice in a desired field.
