Society of Actuaries Announces New Center of Actuarial Excellence: Bayes Business School - City, University of London

Schaumburg, IL, February 21, 2023 — The Society of Actuaries (SOA) has recognized Bayes Business School - City, University of London, as a Center of Actuarial Excellence (CAE). This university joins 37 other CAEs around the world.

To qualify for the CAE designation, university and college programs must meet eight main criteria, along with other specific requirements. The criteria encompass appropriate degree and curriculum offerings, graduate count, faculty composition, quality of graduates, appropriate integration with other areas of study, connection to industry, and research and professional involvement. Universities retain the CAE designation for a five-year period, after which renewal is subject to compliance with the CAE criteria.

“The SOA is delighted to now include the actuarial program at Bayes Business School - City, University of London as our newest Center of Actuarial Excellence. This prestigious designation recognizes those programs that provide well-rounded education to future actuaries,” noted SOA CAE Evaluation Committee Chairperson Eileen Luxton, FSA, FCIA. “Such programs help prepare actuarial candidates to successfully pursue their careers. We are excited about our partnership with Bayes and look forward to a bright future for their graduates and our profession.”

There are now 38 universities with the CAE designation. These include 20 universities in the U.S., four in Australia, eight in Canada, two in Hong Kong, two in the United Kingdom, and one each in China and Singapore. See the online listing of universities and colleges with actuarial programs.
