Society of Actuaries Launches Inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Volunteer Award

Chicago, IL — The Society of Actuaries (SOA) is proud to announce the introduction of its inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Volunteer Award, recognizing exceptional contributions towards fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the actuarial profession.

The launch of the DEI Volunteer Award aligns with the SOA's core values and commitment to fostering an environment where diversity is embraced, equity is valued, and inclusion is championed. This award underscores our dedication to acknowledging the remarkable efforts of our volunteers who have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing DEI initiatives.

The DEI Volunteer Award aims to honor individuals whose volunteer work has significantly contributed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the SOA and the profession through mentorship, advocacy, innovative projects, or other impactful contributions.

Nominations for this prestigious award will be open from April 21 to June 3, 2024. Volunteers, staff members, and the community at large are encouraged to nominate individuals who have shown exemplary dedication and innovation in advancing DEI within our organization and beyond.

“Volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization,” said Courtney Nashan, Managing Director, Engagement. “This award is a tribute to their commitment in championing diversity, equity, and inclusion, values that resonate deeply within our organization. Their passion and contributions pave the way for a more inclusive tomorrow, making them truly deserving of this recognition.”

Join us in celebrating the extraordinary efforts of one of our DEI-focused volunteers and their invaluable contributions toward creating a more inclusive organization when we present the award at this year’s ImpACT Conference.
