Society of Actuaries Announces Inaugural Spotlight Societal Purpose Award

April 18, 2024, Chicago, IL - The Society of Actuaries (SOA) is proud to announce the introduction of its inaugural Spotlight Societal Purpose Award, recognizing the extraordinary contributions of SOA members, candidates, affiliate members, and employers who are leaders in championing community involvement for positive purpose.

The SOA’s launch of the Spotlight Societal Purpose Award aligns with the SOA's mission to empower the world with the valuable insights of actuarial knowledge. This award underscores the SOA’s dedication to acknowledging the remarkable efforts of individuals or organizations within the actuarial community who are making a significant impact on society.

Nominations for this prestigious award will be open from April 21 to June 3, 2024. The actuarial community is encouraged to nominate candidates, affiliates, members, and employers who have shown exemplary dedication to advancing the actuarial profession through sharing valuable actuarial insights through their work in the community.

“Spotlighting societal purpose is at the very heart of our mission and vision,” said R. Dale Hall, FSA, CERA, CFA, MAAA, Managing Director of Research, SOA Research Institute. “This award allows us at the SOA to recognize the community volunteers who embody the altruistic nature of the profession and dedicate themselves to making the world a more secure place. Whether by sharing their knowledge, talent, or leadership, they promote the contributions of the actuarial profession for the good of society.”

Join us in celebrating the extraordinary efforts of the award recipients when we present the award at this year’s ImpACT Conference, October in Maryland.
