Description: The Society of Actuaries, the SOA Pension Section, the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and the American Society of Pension Actuaries are contributing funds in support of efforts to get the actuarial profession more involved in modeling that addresses national retirement income policy and health care reform. This chapter describes CORSIM, the Cornell Microsimulation Model, which is a large dynamic microsimulation model developed and maintained at Cornell University. CORSIM is a large-scale dynamic microsimulation model. It simulates the basic demographic and socioeconomic events that characterize the socioeconomic conditions of the population. Strengths and limitations of the approach are addressed as well as accessibilty and ease of use.
