Bruce Schobel, FSA, MAAA, breaks down the changes to Social Security for 2024.

The SIPF Section is co-sponsoring a research project that will build a model for use in evaluating reform proposals for long-term care systems. The final model will be published by the SOA and permit users to examine the effects on individual consumers resulting from a range of LTC-related policy provisions. The research, which is being conducted by Actuarial Research Corporation, will be published later in 2023.

The Social Security Trust funds will be able to pay 100% of total scheduled benefits until 2034, one year earlier than reported last year. View the 2023 Social Security Report.

The Social Insurance and Public Finance Section, and the International Section co-sponsored a research effort that is focused on paid family and medical leave programs (PFML) in the US and around the world. The primary goal is to identify the features and actuarial considerations of international PFML programs and how lessons learned from them can help shape developing programs in the US. The results of the research includes a summary of the programs and illustrates the range of benefits.
